Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is the last and final messenger of Allah. He was born in Makkah in 570 CE in the noble tribe of Quraish. His father Abdullah died before his birth and his mother Amina died when he was six years old. He was raised by his grandfather Abdul Muttalib and his uncle Abu Talib.


Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was known for his honesty, truthfulness, generosity and kindness. He never lied, cheated, harmed or oppressed anyone. He was called Al-Amin (the trustworthy) and As-Sadiq (the truthful) by his people. He disliked idolatry, injustice, corruption and ignorance that prevailed in his society. He used to spend his time in worship and meditation in the cave of Hira.

When he was 40 years old, he received the first revelation from Allah through the angel Jibril (AS). He was commanded to convey the message of Islam to his people and to the whole world. He proclaimed that there is no god but Allah and that he is His messenger. He invited people to worship Allah alone and to follow His commands. He taught them the principles of faith, morality, justice, peace and brotherhood.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) faced many challenges and hardships in his mission. He was mocked, abused, persecuted and boycotted by his enemies. He and his followers migrated to Madinah to escape the oppression of the Quraish. There he established the first Islamic state and community based on the Quran and Sunnah. He fought many battles against the enemies of Islam and defended the rights of the Muslims. He also made treaties and alliances with other tribes and nations. He spread the message of Islam with wisdom, patience and compassion.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was a perfect example for humanity in every aspect of life. He was a loving husband, a caring father, a loyal friend, a just leader, a brave warrior, a generous host, a humble servant and a noble prophet. He treated everyone with respect, kindness and mercy. He forgave his enemies and prayed for their guidance. He was the best of creation and the mercy to the worlds.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was not only a prophet but also a reformer, a statesman, a judge, a commander, a teacher and a friend. He reformed the society from the evils of ignorance, idolatry, injustice and immorality. He established a system of law and order, human rights and social welfare. He judged the cases with fairness and wisdom. He commanded the armies with courage and skill. He taught the people the Quran and the Sunnah with eloquence and simplicity. He befriended the poor, the needy, the orphans and the widows.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was also a family man who loved his wives and children dearly. He married eleven women in his life, mostly widows and divorcees who needed his protection and support. He treated them all with respect, kindness and affection. He never favored one over another. He helped them in their household chores and shared their joys and sorrows. He was especially close to his first wife Khadija (RA) who supported him in his mission and bore him four daughters and two sons. He was also fond of his youngest wife Aisha (RA) who narrated many of his sayings and deeds.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had seven children in total, four daughters and three sons. His sons Qasim, Abdullah and Ibrahim all died in infancy. His daughters Zainab, Ruqayyah, Umm Kulthum and Fatima (RA) all survived him and embraced Islam. They were married to noble companions of the Prophet (SAW) such as Ali (RA), Uthman (RA) and Abu al-As (RA). They were the mothers of the Prophet's grandchildren Hasan, Husain, Zainab, Umm Kulthum, Umamah and Abdullah (RA). The Prophet (SAW) loved his grandchildren very much and often played with them.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was not only a messenger of Allah but also a mercy to the worlds. He showed compassion and kindness to all creatures, human and non-human. He was gentle and polite with everyone. He never hurt or harmed anyone without a just cause. He was concerned about the welfare of the poor, the needy, the sick and the oppressed. He freed many slaves and gave them dignity and respect. He visited the sick and comforted the bereaved. He fed the hungry and clothed the naked. He cared for the animals and plants and urged his followers to do the same.

Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was not only a mercy to the worlds but also a blessing to mankind. He brought light and guidance to a world that was in darkness and ignorance. He taught people how to worship Allah, how to live a righteous life, how to deal with others, how to face challenges and difficulties, how to seek knowledge and wisdom, how to enjoy the blessings of Allah and how to be grateful to Him. He brought a message that was universal, comprehensive, rational and practical. He brought a religion that was easy, simple, natural and balanced.
